Quote of the Day

“Read my lips: we’re going to cut spending.”

- House Speaker John Boehner, borrowing an expression from George H.W. Bush, who famously used the phrase in a campaign promise not to raise taxes. Bush broke that promise. Boehner left the stage quickly after that comment and is reported to have said, “I can’t believe I just said that.”

From now on, I'm going to imagine Boehner saying that after every public appearance.

(The quote of the day, by the way, is "I can't believe I just said that.")
